It is one of the areas for beginners/intermediate surfing lessons, and even professionals come to test their skills. Surfers do not have to swim out very far to catch some waves, as they break somewhat close to the beach. The waves are not harsh but it may take a while to get a good wave coming along.For those who are getting back into the water after some time to regain their confidence, this is exactly the place to go.
Whiskey Point is a fairly exposed point break that has reasonably consistent surf. Works best in offshore winds from the west southwest and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Tends to receive a mix of groundswells and windswells and the best swell direction is from the east southeast. There is no point break. Good surf at all stages of the tide. Rarely crowded here.
Surfable sized waves that are of poorer quality due to prevailing onshore, cross-onshore or windy conditions (may be preferable for kitesurfing).Surfable waves that hold up well for longer rides in prevailing cross-offshore, offshore or light wind conditions.Waves usually considered too small for good surf. Some wave-magnet breaks may still work though if conditions are right (on occasion).it's considered too small by most surfers but may still be OK for beginners and groms at times.but on a good swell it can be over head high, some good size waves and uncrowded.Β
